Conference review: w-jax Munich 2022

Christian Seifert

I had the pleasure of attending the w-jax 2022 in Munich this year, both as a speaker and as an attendee.

Breaking out of the daily routine and getting inspired by new topics and ideas is always not just entertaining but really helps me to put things into perspective and get some inspiration for what’s ahead in my own team and company,

A couple of talks that I heard were especially interesting and/or inspiring and I would give a short shoutout to these great speakers.

Conference review: c/o data science Bonn 2022

Hendrik Gruß

We would like to give you a short recap of our visit at the data science barcamp “c/o data science Bonn 2022”.

Patrick and I (Hendrik) attended the conference on the 13th September and gained some interesting insights into how data science is used in different fields and companies. You can find out more about the event at https://www.co-datascience.de/bonn/bn22_program/.

In this blog post I will talk about the key insights from the keynotes.

Pixum Schnuppertag for Developers

Christian Seifert

The “Schnuppertag” is one of the essential steps within our hiring process. It gives both Pixum and you as a candidate the chance to get to know the other side and evaluate if we want to work together.

In this article I would like to give you an overview of why we think a Schnuppertag is useful and how a Schuppertag is organized.

Testing with dates in Java

Christian Seifert

When working with date and time data we often struggle to create good test cases. A typical reflex is to say “We cannot really test this as we don’t know when the test is run and the object under test might give us different results depending on the day and the time”.

However there are some good strategies to test our code, even when it depends on specific dates and times.
